Outside the Book Nook

My photo collection

outside-the-book-nook

Hi! Erm…
Sorry I suddenly disappeared from both Instagram and WordPress. Sometime you just cannot help but have those gloomy times when you don’t want to do anything at all.
Well, yeah, you can’t say so about me judging from the amount of K-pop rant I recently have on my twitter though (and I’m really sorry for that, but I decided to abandon my personal twitter account and merge everything happening onto the bookish one, so if you don’t want to see me spamming your feed with K-pop related tweets (like EVERYTIME EVERYWHERE), feel free to unfollow). But still.

Also as I don’t have much to share on bookish world (I’m being on a reading slump again, torn between three books, actually), neither I have topics I can brainstorm on (suggestions are welcomed!), so how about a little bit of photography?

I can’t say that I’m really good at photography, but there are some shots I really love and feel very proud of. I never studied photography professionally, only just enough to understand basics and to handle my Nikon D3200. I will give some commentaries under photos, as like under what conditions I took this photo, or what I liked about this shot particularly. Mostly all pics are already edited with VSCO Cam.

Hope you can enjoy it as well!

April Fairyloot unboxing! (Or my first ever subscription box)

do-the-talking_20170523154626657

Hello world!

I have a little announcement before I move onto the topic of this, indeed, interesting post. Don’t worry, it’s not the breaking news of me leaving the blogging world – no, gosh, no way I will abandon what I love so much even if I feel tired!
Well, to put simply – I’m going on another travel at the end of this week. Again, yes. No, it won’t take long, but I definitely won’t be able to post my weekly digest, and I will try my best to schedule something for Saturday, if I come up with a content worth sharing right now. You can still find me on other platforms like instagram and twitter (yep, feel free to spam me there lol), but I won’t be able to answer the comments here for 3 days or so.
So that’s all for the announcement, now let’s move onto the blog post of today!

So at the end of April I received my first ever subscription box, and I’m absolutely glad that I picked Fairyloot to be that first box! Since it’s long past spoiler time, how about I share with you the contents of the April box?

Outside the Book Nook: Perfectly Magical – Celebrating #20YearsofHarryPotter in VN

outside-the-book-nook

Why, hello there, world!

This should’ve been a Top Ten Tuesday post, but since I have nothing to present for this week’s prompt, I won’t be doing the meme and, instead, will rant about ‘experience’ at the latest HP celebration in Ho Chi Minh city’s book street that took place last weekend (May 13-14th), and was hosted by British CouncilTre Publishing House (the publishing house that currently issues all HP related stuff), and Hogwarts.vn, Vietnamese biggest HP fanbase.

Outside the Book Nook: PRODUCE 101 Season 2 (Part 1)

Catch up with the rest of my favs in Part 2!

Hello! I don’t even remember when my Outside the Book Nook was posted last time. Was it… Yiruma’s concert one? If yes, that would mean that I abandoned this segment for a good 3 months.

Actually there’s a reason why I don’t use this category much. As you can see, this is, in the first place, a book blog, which means everything bookish should still be the main niche of my space. Of course, since this is my space, and I’m entitled to do whatever I want to, I kept reminding myself that I started this with an intention of being a book blogger. But at the same time I didn’t forbid myself from writing anything non-bookish. I just wanted to avoid turning my bookish blog into anything else but the bookish blog. So that’s why I rarely used this tag.

As for now, I’ve been blogging about books for 3 months already, and I thought that people who read me are more than allowed to know about my other hobbies aside reading, so, today we are here to hear me ranting about my second longest obsession.

K-pop.

Walking on the book street of Ho Chi Minh city

Have a good Monday folks, no matter how much you hate them!

My weekend wasn’t really productive in terms of reading (I’m still hoping to finish a book in 4-5 hours of non-stop reading), since I usually take the weekend as an opportunity to fill my memory card with photos for upcoming bookstagram and blog posts.

This weekend was spent at one of my favorite places, that is a book street in the heart of Ho Chi Minh city where I live right now.

The book street (also called Nguyễn Văn Bình Book Street) is located right in the heart of Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam, next to Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica of Saigon and Saigon Post Office. It was opened on January 9th, 2016, and, as the name says, is fully dedicated to book lovers. A row of bookstores are open to any visitors from 7AM until 10PM, selling all books from the bestsellers, to new releases, to indie authors, including some kiosks dedicated to old and rare books.

Yiruma’s concert in Singapore 2017

A little bit of off topic won’t hurt us much, right?

Hello dear booknerds,

I just came back from my 2-day trip in Singapore, and I have lots to say!
To begin with, it’s not my first time in Singapore, and this trip was solemnly planned only for 2 purposes: Yiruma’s concert, and book shopping.

2017-02-27-09.11.44-1.jpg.jpg

Yiruma needs no introduction – his splendid piano pieces say everything about him. Genius, romantic, witty, funny, creative, intelligent, and just a very good man. Getting the chance of seeing his perfomances life is, of course, a dream come true, and I did my best to achieve that. I bought the most expensive ticket, and booked airplane tickets 2 months prior to the concert.
