REVIEW: The Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith

Hello?

Did I really finish reading another book? The second book this month? WTF REALLY

My life is such a misery, lol. I said to myself that I’d be reading more, but all I did was excessively fangirling over k-pop on twitter. I’m really sorry if that bothered your twitter timeline so much…

But anyways, a review! For a detective book which is not my usual reading genre (although I’m such a Sherlock Holmes trash…)

The Cuckoo’s Calling
by Robert Galbraith (J.K. Rowling)

Rating: rating-4-stars
Goodreads | Amazon
Book Depository | Barnes & Noble
Published: April 18th, 2013
(Russian version: February 13th, 2014)
Format: Paperback

Synopsis: A brilliant mystery in a classic vein: Detective Cormoran Strike investigates a supermodel’s suicide.
After losing his leg to a land mine in Afghanistan, Cormoran Strike is barely scraping by as a private investigator. Strike is down to one client, and creditors are calling. He has also just broken up with his longtime girlfriend and is living in his office.

Then John Bristow walks through his door with an amazing story: His sister, thelegendary supermodel Lula Landry, known to her friends as the Cuckoo, famously fell to her death a few months earlier. The police ruled it a suicide, but John refuses to believe that. The case plunges Strike into the world of multimillionaire beauties, rock-star boyfriends, and desperate designers, and it introduces him to every variety of pleasure, enticement, seduction, and delusion known to man.

You may think you know detectives, but you’ve never met one quite like Strike. You may think you know about the wealthy and famous, but you’ve never seen them under an investigation like this. (cr.: Goodreads)

Do The Talking

Do The Talking: Background music when reading

do-the-talking_20170609201111557

Hi!

Finally, another edition of Do The Talking.
I had three attempts on writing this post. I miserably failed. I’m a damn emotional potato!

Of course, with a crown on my head made of books I’ve yet to read so its weight could remind me of my never ending TBR pile hahahahaha

But nope, I will still talk about Background music when reading, because this topic is pretty close to me, and I think I have rights to share my thoughts on that.

Hi!

Finally I’ve recovered myself after being on such an emotional roller coaster caused by the final episode of Produce 101 Season 2, on which I will talk a bit in Wednesday K-pop! segment (anyways the main characters of tomorrow’s episode are related to this show), but now let’s have a regular Top Ten Tuesday while I’m still on an inspirational roll to write everything and not be carried away by re-watching all P101 videos lol

tag-thursday

Hello people of the world!

I’m back again with another tag that I wasn’t tagged in (as usual, lol), but I’d still do that because it seems fun!

I saw this tag on Beth’s Reading Every Night, so I hope you don’t mind that I did this tag~

Monthly TBR

June TBR list / Or let’s see how bad I am with keeping reading promises…

monthly-tbr

Well hiiiiiii.

I’ve stopped making monthly TBR lists as I realised that I almost never follow them, but suddenly this time I thought I should challenge myself. Especially when I’m on such a reading slump I can’t even manage to finish the book I’m currently reading (and it’s not because the book sucks). So, without further ado, let’s see what books I’m planning to read in June!~

And again, hola!

I initially wanted to skip this week’s TTT prompt again, but then I thought again, and, since it’s pretty much a freebie kind of prompt: Summer Reads Freebie – I decided that I should still share something.

Something like… Summer TBR? Hahaha.
Let’s see how good I’ll be with fulfilling that lol

Top Ten Tuesday: Things That Will Make Me Instantly NOT Want To Read A Book

Hi!

A new week has started, and I have some announcements to make!
This Friday evening I’ll leave for a short vacation with my best friend to Danang city, where we will chill, probably take lots of photos, and just enjoy the time together! Meaning that I’ll probably be off from social media such as instagram and twitter. I will still surf all updates from you guys, but won’t be able to update myself, except for, maybe, instagram stories. I will come back next Tuesday afternoon, so I am currently scheduling my blog except for The Sunday Post, which will be later combined with next week’s one!

So now let’s get into this week’s prompt for Top Ten Tuesday, that is:

10 Things That Will Make Me Instantly NOT Want To Read A Book

Okay, so that’s why we have this meme going on and on and on.

The Unique Blogger Award!

unique-blogger-award

Hi again!

I’m slowly recovering from that mess the weather caused to my body and my immune system (seriously, people, never forget to take care of yourself!), and, in order to avoid getting into blogging slump a.k.a. completely lazy with writing new content, I’m gradually drafting all those posts I wanted to share. Obviously, all serious kind of discussion posts will probably go to the next week, so I hope you understand. I’ll try to be back to bookstagram as soon as I take new photos tomorrow /hehehe/, but, as you might have noticed, I still like and comment some posts, and am pretty active sharing instagram stories, so don’t forget to go to my crazy bookstagram to follow up with updates, as well as my in no way less crazy twitter where I keep ranting about books!

So I’ve been nominated twice for Unique Blogger Award, by these wonderful people – Maddie @Of Reading and Random Things and Imane @booksaccino. (make sure to check both of them out!), and so I don’t need to write two different posts, I’ll combine both their questions and answer here!

Thank you so much for nominating and supporting my blog! Very much appreciated!
