Hello, all possible nations reading my silly book blog!
Here we are again with Wednesday K-pop! with Liliana, and today I’ll come back to the Korean survival program PRODUCE 101 Season 2, with listing the best performances up to the most recent Episode 9 that freaking blew up everyone!
Since 13 is my favorite number (WHAT? YOU DIDN’T KNOW THAT??? HOWWWW), I’ll have a Top-13 best performances from Produce 101 Season 2. Sorry, I couldn’t bring myself to cut the list down to only 10.
No. 13
Kim Seonglee, Joo Jinwoon, Jin Longguo/Kim Youngguk, Kim Yehyun
“IF IT WAS YOU” – Vocal evaluation (episode 6)
I’m in love with their vocals and overall harmonization!
No. 12
Kang Dongho, Lai Guanlin, Lee Gunmin, Jin Longguo/Kim Youngguk, Lee Insoo, Kim Sangbin
“BOY IN LUV” – Group battle evaluation (episode 4)
This team lost to the other one, but they made it one of the stages that can be described with a quote from Kang Dongho (that sexy baby with honey voice you see in the beginning and everyone drooling for): “Even if we lose, I’d like people to be questioning, “Why did they lose? They were the best!”. I’d like to make a stage I won’t ever regret about.”
No. 11
Hong Eunki, Yeo Hwanwoong, Byun Hyunmin, Yoo Hoeseung, Joo Haknyeon, Kim Namhyun
“RIGHT ROUND” – Dance evaluation (episode 6)
What happens when you have a Dancing King/Diva Hong Eunki (blond haired boy) and the best of mood makers in one team? I’m still salty about only Joo Haknyeon surviving out of the whole team, with his lower than average skills.
No. 10
Lee Gunhee, Jung Dongsoo, Seo Sunghyuk, Yoon Heeseok
“AMAZING KISS” – Vocal evaluation (episode 7)
People can question about how this team was considered the best all they want, but for me, Lee Gunhee delivered all his skills. Plus notice that awesome r&b-ish voice of Jung Dongsoo (in maroon shirt)!
No. 9
Kim Samuel, Noh Taehyun, Ha Sungwoon, Park Woodam, Yoon Jisung, Kim Sanggyun, Lee Woojin
“SHOWTIME” – Concept evaluation (episode 9)
This performance was lively as hell, and the song is so catchy, especially the La la la part!
No. 8
Kim Jonghyun, Lai Guanlin, Kim Taemin, Jang Moonbok
“FEAR” – Rap evaluation (episode 6)
A.k.a. how to make people cry over rap lyrics within 3 minutes. Plus one of my favorite babies is here (Kim Jonghyun a.k.a. Wartotle and Nation’s leader)
No. 7
Woo Jinyoung, Kim Sanggyun, Lee Euiwoong (+ Ha Minho, but his part was edited due to controversy that lead to him withdrawing from the show)“WHO YOU” – Rap evaluation (episode 7)
SWAG, THIS GOD DAMN SWAG. Woo Jinyoung (pink hair), WE MISS YOU T__T And that cutie Euiwoong (black jacket) with such a deep rapping voice! O.O
Oh, and if you think that there is an illusion of 4 people on stage – don’t worry, it’s not an illusion. This performance originally was done by 4 trainees, but at the point of airing episode 7 Ha Minho was already withdrawn from the show due to his scandals related to sexual harassment, so Mnet did hard work on editing him out as much as possible.
No. 6
Park Woodam, Woo Jinyoung, Joo Wontak, Kim Taedong, Kim Yeonguk
“MANSAE” – Group battle evaluation (episode 4)
Or how Park Woodam’s score alone beat the whole Team 2 (270 points on him alone versus 151 points of Team 2 combined)
No. 5
Yoon Jisung, Hwang Minhyun, Ha Sungwoon, Kwon Hyunbin, Kim Jaehwan
“DOWNPOUR” – Vocal evaluation (episode 7)
How to make a fan cry? Take this perfect team and make them sing “Downpour” (FYI, “Downpour” is a goodbye song for I.O.I., winners of Produce 101 Season 1). Oh, and don’t forget to ask Emperor Hwang (the one singing first) to serve his blessing visuals and harmonizing vocals. And to tell Kim Jaehwan and Ha Sungwoon to kill you with high notes.
No. 4
Kim Taedong, Jang Moonbok, Kwon Hyunbin, Kim Yehyun, Kim Donghan, Kim Donghyun, Seo Sunghyuk
“I KNOW YOU KNOW” – Concept evaluation (episode 9)
A.k.a. DAMN THIS IS SUCH A JAAAAAM. And notice how the majority of the song is performed in a DAMN FALSETTO!!! This song is totally my style!
No. 3
Noh Taehyun, Justin, Park Sungwoo, Kim Donghan, Kim Taedong, Lee Junwoo
“SHAPE OF YOU” – Dance evaluation (episode 6)
Noh Taehyun (the guy with a bowtie) was seriously concerned about making a choreography for such a slow beat song, since his specialty was dynamic moves and krumping, but since it was mentioned that they’ll be using remix versions instead of the original, watch yourself as this boys deliver you the sexiness without stripping.
No. 2
Kim Jonghyun, Hwang Minhyun, Ong Sungwoo, Kang Daniel, Kim Jaehwan, Kwon Hyunbin
“SORRY SORRY” – Group battle evaluation
A.k.a. THE LEGENDARY STAGE #1
A.k.a. bless Lee Daehwi for randomly picking up Hwang Minhyun’s name from the lottery so he can pick this perfect team.
A.k.a. bless CEO Hwang Minhyun ever more for choosing the members based on actual skills that could actually complete the group image without considering their popularity and ranks.
A.k.a. bless the Nation’s leader Kim Jonghyun, the cutest Wartotle ever, for selflessly leading the whole team and making this stage LEGENDARY, even if he got less than 1 second of lines in the whole song.
A.k.a. bless the whole JUSTICE LEAGUE team (a.k.a. this team) for making A LEGENDARY STAGE that still gets mentioned even 5 episodes later.
A.k.a. bless the Koreans for taking 4 out of 6 members of this team to another perfect group that created another legendary stage.
No. 1
Kim Jonghyun, Hwang Minhyun, Ong Sungwoo, Kim Jaehwan, Lee Daehwi, Park Woojin, Lai Guanlin
“NEVER” – Concept evaluation
A.k.a. HOW THE LEGENDARY TEAM MADE ANOTHER LEGENDARY STAGE #2
A.k.a. how CEO Hwang Minhyun also became the Fortune teller and the best center Hwang Minhyun, with his outstanding visuals and blessed vocals, correctly guessing 6 out of 7 members (or maybe even all 7!) during the team re-formation.
A.k.a. THIS WHOLE TEAM NEEDS TO BE IN TOP 11, OR I’M GONNA BLOW UP THE WHOLE Mnet BUILDING.
A.k.a. what a perfect synergy within the group, with zero conflicts and greedy members.
A.k.a. How every single trainer said for the second time that this team are ready to debut.
A.k.a. the evidence that if your team has either Kim Jonghyun or Hwang Minhyun, you’re destined to make a legendary stage.
A.k.a. how this team consists of 4 members of JUSTICE LEAGUE that previously made the LEGENDARY SORRY SORRY STAGE (see No. 2)
A.k.a. KIM JAEHWAN IS STILL DELIVERING THOSE KILLER VOCALS, and I’d like you to notice that he. fucking. doesn’t. have. a managing. agency. He’s now the only one individual trainee left on the show as of Episode 9!
A.k.a. how this song killed all Korean charts, getting over 30 all-kills (#1 on all real-time charts) during the day and being near Perfect All Kill (#1 on all daily and real-time charts) which was never done by any other active male artist aside Big Bang. I’d like to note: THESE BOYS HAVEN’T EVEN OFFICIALLY DEBUTED.
OH. AND LET’S HAVE A BONUS VIDEO:
Okay, I’m done with my massive fangirling. 😀 And yes, I’m completely obsessed with this program. Can’t wait until next episode, where the third elimination will take place, and, to be honest, I’m really worried about some of my favorite babies. THEY NEED TO SURVIIIIVE T__T
How do you find my picks?
Since I’ve been into more Korean Hip Hop and R&B than I am with K-pop, I really, really love the performance of “Who You.” That entire team is so underrated, and it’s a shame about the controversy with Ha Minho. Though I definitely don’t think what he did was okay, I hope that he will be able to overcome the hate he’s been getting and learn from his mistake. I’m actually curious what the performance was like with him not edited out since he technically was ranked first in that group. I also really loved all the concept evaluation performances from episode 9. Especially “I Know You Know” and “Never.” XD

I’m also curious about Minho’s rap since he got 1st place in the group, and people have been saying that he dissed Mnet and it’s evil editing in his rap!
Hahaha, we have the same preferences on concept evaluations! I also loved these two the most. Unfortunately, the votes on IKYK performance were waaaay too rude. I won’t spoil episode 10 yet, but the news are not the best ones for this team, and I’m damn salty about it.

Lol, well Mnet deserves to be spited after all the drama it created.
EXACTLY. Ugh, the voting felt so unfair but audience voting will forever be subjective and unpredictable. It can’t be helped.

I haven’t really been up to date with this show as I’m not really a Produce 101 fan but I did watch some performances!
Downpour almost made me cry 😥
Honestly, I liked all your picks but WHERE WAS PLAYING WITH FIRE?! *cries*
